KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Cuonzo Martin might not speak Italian, but the Tennessee men's basketball coach has plenty of other experience with Italy that has him ready for a 10-day exhibition tour.
Martin played for an Italian pro team following his NBA career. And when he was an assistant coach at Purdue, the Boilermakers went on a similar trip. Even Martin's first name is Italian.
Tennessee will play four games against club and professional Italian teams during the trip that starts Sunday.
While the Vols want to come out victorious on the hardwood, the trip will give Martin and the coaching staff a better feel for the players on the roster and what their roles could be this season.
Tennessee is coming off a 19-15 season in Martin's first season as coach.
