Two suspects arrested after pharmacy robbery

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two suspects in a pharmacy robbery were arrested Sunday morning after crashing while fleeing the scene.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office received a call of an armed robbery at 3:40 a.m. Sunday morning at CVS Pharmacy at 417 East Emory Road.

A KCSO release states two male suspects revealed a gun to the on-duty pharmacist and demanded narcotics. After receiving the drugs, the two suspects fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

KCSO deputies spotted the car and gave chase. The suspects lost control and crashed on Fountain City Road at Rifle Range Drive. One suspect was trapped in the vehicle, while the other fled on foot.

A Knoxville Police Department K-9 unit soon tracked down the other suspect.

Both were transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for injuries sustained during the crash.

The male suspects' identities are not known at this time.
