KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The man accused of dragging a dog behind his truck and nearly killing it was back in court Tuesday, but this time on drug charges.
Jimmy Lovell, 47, is accused of dealing drugs. A tip from neighbors in April led to his arrest.
Police say they saw multiple oxycodone purchases during their investigation and found drugs in his Pilkay Road home.
The charges include two counts of violating a drug free school zone and drug paraphernalia.
Lovell went on trial in February in what was known as the Little Brown Dog case. He was accused of dragging a small dog behind his truck in 2009. That case ended in a mistrial.
On Tuesday, the court dates for both cases against Lovell were reset. The new trial date for his animal cruelty case is February 5 and the trial on his drug charges is scheduled for December 5.
The dog was able to eventually able to recover and was adopted by a veterinarian.
