JACKSON (AP) - One person has died in a fire at a retirement home in West Tennessee.
Officials determined the fire at Jackson Independent Living facility started in one room at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and spread to engulf most of the building. Fire Chief Eric Turner said within three hours, the building was a "total loss."
Three people exited the building, and three were carried out by firefighters. 1 of the three who was carried out died at the scene. The name hasn't been released.
Turner said two people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The cause remained under investigation.
