ALCOA (WATE) - Olympic gold medalist Claire Donahue returned home to East Tennessee late Tuesday night.

The Lenoir City native was greeted by family and fans when she arrived at McGhee Tyson Airport.

Donahue helped Team USA qualify in the 4x100-meter medley relay.

The Americans won gold and broke the world record in the finals of the relay.

While Donahue didn't swim in the medal race, she still came home with gold for helping the team.

"London, I had so much fun there, meeting new people -- not just from USA swimming, but from other USA teams, other countries," Donahue said. "It was just a huge experience for me to be able to compete in the biggest meet in the world, the fastest meet in the world. Usually you would think nerve-racking, but it was a lot of fun."

Donahue says she has a month-long break but is looking forward to getting back in the pool.

Webb School of Knoxville graduate Davis Tarwater, 28, is also an Olympic gold medalist. He was part of the team that won the men's 4 x 200 freestyle relay for Team USA.
