FARRAGUT (WATE) -- With a 12-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole, Hunter Haas broke a three-way tie Sunday to win the Knoxville Open at Fox Den Country Club.

Haas ended the final round with Shane Bertsch and Justin Bolli at 13-under-par 275. Haas had carded a three-under 69 for the day in regulation play. Bertsch and Bolli each had a one-under 71.

With pressure mounting at the start of the playoff, Haas, Bertsch and Bolli teed off on the par-five 18th, but none hit the fairway on their first shot. Betsch then ended his chances to stay with Bolli by chopping into the rough, then hitting a tree on his third shot.

Haas and Bolli found the green on their third shots. But when Bolli failed on a chip shot from the edge of the green, that opened the door for Haas. Stepping away from the ball once, Haas then calmly drained the putt for the win.

"I knew it'd be tough for everybody out there today. I was fortunate to have only one bogey today. And you know, I just played one shot at a time, just played my game. That's what I've done all week and it worked. I wish my family would've been here," the emotional Haas reacted after.

Saturday's third round leader, Jimmy Walker, had a chance to earn an automatic promotion to the PGA tour with a win Sunday, but he faded with a final round 75. Thanks to a triple-bogey at the 14th, he had to settle for a fourth place tie with Brendan Jones and Zoran Zorkic at 11-under-par 277.

Haas collected $85,500 for his first tour win. He opened play Sunday four strokes behind Walker, but early birdies on the first and fifth moved his score to 12-under. Back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th made up for a bogey at the 15th and kept him in a tie for first.
