SEYMOUR (WATE) - The heat proved to be a challenge for Sevier County firefighters Wednesday as they fought a mobile home fire.
The fire broke out at a home on Sugarloaf Lane in Seymour.
Firefighters say when they first got the call they were told rounds of ammunition were going off.
By the time they arrived on the scene that danger had passed, but another danger was just starting. Their biggest challenge became the heat.
"I've got six firemen that I'm having to cycle in and out so we don't have heat exhaustion or any other health issues," said Stephen Whaley, of the Sevier County Volunteer Fire Department. "With all of us being volunteers, we're kind of short handed. So I'm having to cycle them in and out and keep them rehabbed, keep them hydrated."
It didn't take long to get the fire under control.
No one was home at the time and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
