MARYVILLE (WATE) - The Blount County Sheriff's Office says the arrest of a man Wednesday solved at least 27 burglaries.
The suspect is Tony Edwin McClurg, 35, of Montvale Road in Maryville.
Agents with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force, along with the sheriff's office SWAT Team and help from the Knox County Sheriff's Office SWAT team took McClurg into custody during a search of his home.
McClurg faces charges including several counts of theft of property, possession of marijuana, simple possession of hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
This case was initiated by a Blount County Sheriff's Office patrolman who began investigating a series of burglaries several weeks ago.
The sheriff's office says the investigation led the patrolman to McClurg, who was taking in stolen property.
The search warrant for McClurg's home turned up several items connected to some of the burglaries including firearms, electronics and power tools.
Agents said they also discovered three ounces of marijuana, hydrocodone pills and drug paraphernalia.
The Maryville Police Department also has theft charges pending on McClurg, and the sheriff's office said additional charges from other agencies may be pending.
