ELIZABETHTON (WATE) - The Tennessee football team arrived at Milligan College on Thursday night and immediately changed plans at the line of scrimmage.
The Vols were scheduled to begin practice on converted soccer fields for their six day stay at the tiny Christian school in upper East Tennessee.
But concern over wet conditions and a desire to keep the practice fields in good shape into the weekend led to a last minute change of venue.
The Vols will practice Friday at Science Hill High School in Johnson City. Science Hill has an artificial playing surface.
The Vols are expected to return to Milligan's fields over the weekend when the weather and field conditions improve.
All practices are closed to the public.
Regardless of their practice location, the Vols are using Milligan as their team headquarters-- with many of the facilities at the non-football playing school converted into meeting and film rooms.
Tennessee will return to Knoxville for practice on Aug. 16.
