MADISONVILLE (WATE) - Police have two suspects in custody after the pair allegedly stabbed a senior and stole her purse.
According to a Madisonville Police Department release, 24-year-old Monica Munoz and 27-year-old Brandy McCarter are charged with aggravated robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, respectively.
The incident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. Police were called to 222 Pedigo Road in Madisonville for a 71-year-old female who had been stabbed twice.
The victim and a neighboring witness said one of the female suspects approached the victim, complaining of car trouble while the victim was in her front lawn. As the victim entered her home to grab an item to aid the suspects, the victim was stabbed twice.
The suspect then grabbed the victim's purse and fled the scene.
Shortly after midnight Friday morning, police, using a description of the suspects' vehicle obtained from the victim and witness, arrested Munoz and McCarter.
The victim was treated for her injuries at Sweetwater Hospital. She is said to be in stable condition tonight.
