NEW TAZEWELL (WATE) - A 16-year-old was flown to UT Medical Center in Knoxville Monday night after being injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Campbell County.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of General Carl W. Stiner Highway and Brown Drive, near the Christian Academy of Campbell County.

Officials at the scene say the victim was riding a gator ATV with a friend when they took a sharp u-turn. The victim stood up, tipping the ATV, and he struck his head.

The teen's identity, the extent of his injuries and his condition have not been reported.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is now handling the investigation.
