RUTLEDGE (WATE) - A Rutledge man held Grainger County deputies at bay for six hours Saturday after allegedly shooting his wife and shooting up his house.
Deputies were in the standoff with Samuel Clifton Thompson, 44, at his home on Roach Road.
They say he barricaded himself there after shooting his wife in the side of the face during an argument. He also shot at least 15 rounds in the house with a .22-caliber and rifle and a .40-caliber pistol.
The standoff ended when deputies raided the home and arrested Thompson.
A total of four weapons were found in the home, but no deputies were shot when Thompson was overpowered and arrested.
He is being held in the Grainger County Detention Center on a $4600 bond.
Thompson faces charges of domestic assault and aggravated domestic assault with a firearm.
