ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WATE) - The Tennessee football team ended their Milligan College preseason camp experience earlier than expected.

The Vols returned to Knoxville on Wednesday night. They were scheduled to return on Thursday morning.

Derek Dooley had planned Wednesday to be the final two-a-day session for this football team, but elected to give his players the night off after six ambitious practice days.

"They're getting a little edgy on each other," Dooley said early Wednesday.

"It's been good for team camaraderie, but at some point start getting on each other's nerves. But they're handling it the right way."

Dooley joked that the coaches were also ready for a return home.

"It was getting a little edgy in that staff room too," he added.

With just over two weeks to go before their season opener, Dooley and his coaching staff have been heaping praise on the team-- especially the Milligan College portion of the workouts.

"They are hurting but they're pushing through. They're attitude has been great. It's hard. They are tired and beat on. But they're going to be recovered soon enough. That's how you feel in the fourth quarter. You've got to learn how to finish the drill."

The Vols resume practice in Knoxville on Thursday night.
