Knoxville man gets 97 months for receiving child pornography

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was sentenced Wednesday to serve 97 months in prison on a federal child pornography charge.

Michael Rivera, 33, was indicted in January 2011 and pleaded guilty in November to receiving child pornography transported in interstate and foreign commerce.

Rivera was also ordered to serve five years supervised release, participate in a program of sex offender mental health treatment and pay $3,000 in restitution to one of the victims whose images he received through the Internet.

The federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act requires Rivera to register following his incarceration with the state sex offender registry anywhere he lives, works, or is a student.

The Knoxville Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force discovered Rivera's activities. An examination of his computer found he had received and saved 414 videos of child pornography.
