Local officials mourn death of Alcoa Police officer

ALCOA (WATE) - Local authorities are mourning the death of an Alcoa Police officer.

Alcoa Police Department Chief Ken Burge regretfully announced Officer James Edward Bowman, 45, passed away Saturday of natural causes.

According to a press release, Officer Bowman began his career with Alcoa Police Department in 2000. He was assigned to the patrol division, and was also a former K-9 officer with the department.

Chief Burge said, "He was a fine officer who loved his family, his career, and this community. He will be missed by so many."
