KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police are searching for a suspect in a Sunday afternoon armed robbery.
The heist occurred around 2:25 p.m. in the parking lot of McDonald's restaurant at 1720 Cumberland Ave.
A Knoxville Police Department release states the suspect entered the victims unlocked car through the passenger door just after the victim parked.
The victim says the suspect, a black male wearing khaki shorts, a blue shirt and a white hat, demanded the victims wallet and showed a black, semi-automatic handgun tucked in his waistband.
The victim complied, and the suspect exited his car and fled the scene in a yellow Chevy Camaro with Kentucky license plates.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Knoxville Police Department Violent Crimes Unit at 215-7000.
