KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man died after firefighters rescued him from a North Knoxville house fire Sunday afternoon.
The victim was William L. Thompson, 64, of 1508 Coker Avenue.
Firefighters responded to the home just after 4:00 p.m. Neighbors had noticed smoke coming from it.
Thompson was found inside unconscious and taken to UT Medical Center, where he later died.
Fire officials say they believe the fire was electrical and started near or around a refrigerator in the kitchen.
Investigators say there were no smoke detectors located in the home.
