KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The owner of a car found in Fort Loudoun Lake early Monday morning told the Knox County Sheriff's Office it was taken without his permission.
Mark Townes, of Knoxville, said his 2005 Ford 500 was taken from his driveway sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
A witness reported seeing the car roll into the water around 2 a.m. at a boat ramp in Carl Cowan Park, just off S. Northshore Drive.
Rural/Metro divers didn't find anyone inside it. They found the keys inside and a large rock was placed on the gas pedal.
Crews pulled the car out of the water around 5:00 a.m.
An investigation into the incident continues.
