KINGSPORT (WATE) - The Hawkins County sheriff's office charged a man deputies say used his horse to ram one of its cruisers during a chase.

A deputy said on the night of August 17, he saw three horses jumping in and out of traffic on Netherland Inn Road in Kingsport.

The deputy followed one of the riders, who was later identified as Andrew William Ketron, 35, of Church Hill.

The arrest report says Ketron smelled strongly of alcohol, refused to show his ID and rode away. He led the deputy on a three-mile chase and sometimes went through people's yards, according to the report.

Ketron is accused of ramming the deputy's cruiser with his horse at one point, causing more than $500 in damage, before he was taken into custody.

Ketron is charged with cruelty to animals, evading arrest, public intoxication and vandalism over $500. He was booked into the Hawkins County Jail.
