KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Neighbors say their concerns about a busy West Knox County intersection are growing after a motorcyclist was killed there Tuesday.

Brian Burns died when he collided with a truck at Bob Gray Road and Lovell Road. The investigation is still ongoing.

The Knox County Sheriff's Department is well aware of the issue. Officers say the main problem at the intersection is speeding, but not necessarily accidents. Only two accidents have been reported there.

Some drivers who often drive through the intersection agree, saying that calling the area a hazard may be an exaggeration.

"It's just a high traffic area," said Bernet Poczbut. "I wouldn't say the people are speeding through here. They drive like everyone else. It's the same speed."

Nearby residents, however, feel speeding remains a major issue.

"It's dangerous because there's a lot of speeders. That's disturbing," said Katine Sise.

Sise has lived in the area for more than two years. She says the speeding cars make it hard to pull in and out of her driveway.

"I really didn't pay attention, when we bought the house, how hard it was to pull out of the driveway," she said. "You have to pray every time before you pull out. I've noticed how people speed on this busy residential road."

Other residents voiced similar concerns.

"The people coming over the hill, a lot of times, they don't slow down at all," Sise's neighbor Bradley Moore, said. "You have to be careful every time you go outside. We don't let children anywhere near the road."

Moore says crossing the street to get the mail can be dangerous. A mirror was put up for those living in the area, but residents say it does not help.

They said some simple solutions could be very effective.

"I was hoping for a sign to be put up to let people know there are hidden driveways approaching, maybe lower the speed limit,"  Sise said.

KCSO officials say they recognize numerous complaints from residents in the area about speeding and congestion. They plan to increase patrols.
