KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Tennessee Vols wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers has been put on indefinite suspension, and head coach Derek Dooley told the media Thursday morning, "Our expectation is he's not" going to play this season.

The announcement of Rogers' suspension came as a brief mention in a press release of the team depth chart.

The only reason given for the suspension was a "violation of team rules." Dooley said Rogers is likely gone for good. ESPN college football Reporter Joe Schad said a source told him Rogers violated UT's substance abuse policy.

This is not the first time the junior wideout has gotten into trouble with coach Dooley.

As a freshman he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct during a barroom brawl just before the start of the 2010 season. Those charges were later dismissed.

Rogers's status with the team was also uncertain for a time during last spring's workouts when he missed a morning practice.

"He's got some things he needs to do internally and when he does them he'll be back, so it's kind of an internal team issue," Dooley said then.

Dooley did not classify that departure as a suspension, but wouldn't say Rogers would return.

"I wouldn't call it anything other than he's got to do some things and when he does, he (can) come back and (if) he doesn't he's not going to be here," Dooley said then.

Rogers returned to the team two days later after having what Dooley termed "extremely positive" conversations.

Rogers led the Southeastern Conference with 67 catches and more than 1,000 yards receiving in 2011. He was named first team All-SEC by The Associated Press.
