SWEETWATER (WATE) - A man is facing a murder charge after a woman was shot in the head and later died Thursday night during an argument in Monroe County.
The shooting happened just after 11 p.m. on Old Highway 68 in Sweetwater.
The victim, Alonda Ann Underwood, 26, was taken to UT Medical Center, where she died.
The sheriff's office said the suspect, Ray Charles White, 54, was taken into custody at the scene.
He's charged with second degree murder.
Investigators say the shooting was apparently the result of an argument between the couple.
White is being held at the Monroe County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
