CORBIN, Ky. (WATE) - A 20-year-old Corbin woman was struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Whitley County. She died early Friday at a hospital in Knoxville.
The sheriff's office identified the victim as Brittany L. Childress, of Wells Road in Corbin.
She and Bradley S. Powers, 21, of Crisp Court in Williamsburg, were walking along the northbound side of KY 26 at 9:23 p.m.
Childress was hit by a vehicle driven by Vernon Dye, 62, of Woodbine.
The sheriff's office said that while Dye was going south and passing a vehicle, he saw the pair walking but couldn't avoid making impact.
Childress was flown to UT Medical Center and pronounced dead at 4:57 a.m. Friday.
Powers was not hit, but he was taken to Corbin Regional Hospital to be checked.
