KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The University of Tennessee vet school had a large and exotic patient wheeled into its operating room on Friday.

Zeta, a 10-year-old female tiger from Tiger Haven in Roane county, was brought in with an infection that required surgery.

Dr. Ed Ramsay says the staff and students at the vet school are used to working with big cats. They treat several each month.

"They really are wonderful, wonderful patients. She will go home and I would expect her to eat tonight, which is in a domestic dog or cat, doesn't always happen," Dr. Ramsay said.

He also says he expects the 222-pound tiger to make a full recovery.
