OAK RIDGE (WATE) - A former Oak Ridge police officer was arrested Wednesday on charges of harassing a woman and violating her civil rights.
The Oak Ridge Police Department opened an investigation of Travis Lee Adcock, 30, of Coalfield, earlier in August after receiving complaints about his behavior.
According to a court affidavit, Adcock began using the social networking site meetme.com on August 8 under the name Travis Cox to send sexual messages to the woman.
He eventually asked her for a picture, but she refused to swap photos, the affidavit said.
Adcock is accused of telling the woman, "Okay, I'll get even," and when she asked what that meant, he said, "I am a cop, hope you like tickets. All I wanted was a pic."
When she asked if he was an officer in Oak Ridge, Adcock allegedly said, "It won't be me. I'm not that dumb, but you will pay."
Adcock was a probationary police officer from March-September 2011.
He was taken into custody at the police department Wednesday morning and transported to the Anderson County Detention Facility.
Adcock is charged with one count of misdemeanor harassment and one count of felony civil rights intimidation.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
