KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police are investigating what they call an unusual case after a body was found Wednesday afternoon in an East Knoxville apartment.
Police say the unidentified victim died from gunshot wounds, but no one in the area called to report hearing shots fired.
"It is just a little unusual that nobody called in and said they heard shots fired, because we did not actually get a report of shots fired," Lt. Greg Coker said. "Our first call to this location regarding this incident was the report of the dead man in the apartment. So we had no report of shots fired."
The investigation is being treated as a homicide. There are currently no suspects.
The body was found just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Magnolia Apartments, located near the intersection of East Magnolia and Cherry Street.
