KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The YMCA in downtown Knoxville will be closed Thursday and Friday to allow construction crews to repair flood damage.
The Lindsay Young Downtown YMCA, 605 W Clinch Ave., was damaged in May after a piece of ceiling plaster hit a fire line, leaving six inches of standing water.
Damage was estimated to be between $300,000 and $400,000.
Demolition work will begin on the basketball court.
The YMCA will be open for regular hours on Saturday. Labor Day hours are 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
According to YMCA of Knoxville's website, the building was built in 1929. It was completely renovated in 2008.
