GRASSY FORK (WATE) - The Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department is going to Mississippi to help with disaster recovery efforts after Tropical Depression Isaac.

Officials said they learned Thursday their help is needed in Hancock County, Mississippi. Since Hurricane Katrina, they adopted a fire department there.

The firefighters will leave Friday morning and they expect to stay until September 10 or 11.

Grassy Fork firefighters have previously made several trips to help their Mississippi comrades rebuild.

Grassy Fork firefighters have a special fund to help their fellow firefighters in Mississippi. If you would like to donate to them, call 423-248-2020 or visit the department's website.
