MARYVILLE (WATE) – The state Department of Health has suspended new admissions at a Maryville nursing home and imposed a one-time state civil monetary penalty of $3,000.

The suspension for Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Fairpark became effective Wednesday, August 29. The facility is a 75-bed licensed nursing home at 307 N. Fifth Street.

Kindred Nursing was ordered not to admit new residents based on conditions found during a complaint investigation conducted from August 13-20.

During the inspection, the state said surveyors found violations of administration, performance improvement, nursing services, social work services and resident rights.

A federal civil penalty is also imposed for the facility at $6,000 a day until the violations are corrected.

A special monitor was appointed to review its operations.

The nursing home has the right to a hearing about the suspension before the Board for Licensing Health Care Facilities or an administrative judge.
