KARNS (WATE) - Students at Karns High School and Byington-Solway Technology Center had to begin classes outside Tuesday after power went out in the Karns area.

Students evacuated to the football stadium and waited there for about an hour.

Knox County Schools maintenance and Lenoir City Utilities Board workers were able to restore power shortly after 9 a.m. and students were returned to their classrooms.

School and utility officials have not yet said what caused the power outage.
