ONEIDA (WATE) - The reopening of Scott County's only hospital is delayed until later this fall, according to county Mayor Jeff Tibbals.
He says S.M. Promen (Ameris Health Systems) is now looking at opening St. Mary's Hospital of Scott County in mid-November.
The delay has to do with paperwork needed by the state attorney general's office to convey public property to a private company.
Mayor Tibbals said the paperwork, which is a 22-page questionnaire is almost complete, but then there is a 45-day holding period.
The hospital closed in May after the county's contract with former operator HMA ran out and was not renewed.
County commission selected S.M. Promen in July to reopen the hospital. It would originally have opened about 90 days after the deal with the county was done.
