NASHVILLE (WATE) - One of Gov. Bill Haslam's top advisors is taking a leave of absence to work for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The governor's office announced Monday that Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty will serve on the Romney Readiness Team through election day.

Deputy to the Governor Claude Ramsey will take over the department during the absence.

Hagerty will return to the job on November 7. He'll also oversee a governor's conference on economic and community development in October.
