KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Tennessee Vols play the Florida Gators this Saturday at 6 p.m., and the University of Tennessee announced Tuesday morning tickets are sold out.
"This is bar none the most hyped game since I've been here so I think the campus and Knoxville are all pretty excited," said Arby Lipman, a UT graduate student.
UT sold out less than 24 hours after a significant portion of the visiting team allotment was returned.
Many fans are trying to figure out a plan to get tickets. "I'm hoping to wait until the last minute and get something less than the face value. I don't know if that's possible or not," Vinny Beichler said.
Many tickets are being re-sold above face value on ticket sites like StubHub. An upper level ticket was on sale Tuesday for $124.89.
StubHub's highest priced ticket was a set of four listed for $5,000, or $1,250 individually.
UT students pay $10 for student tickets. They go online and request the individual game tickets before the start of the year.
"We have it so easy with the $10 tickets, but I Know people are trying to get tickets and willing to spend a lot of money on them," said Blake Mintum, a UT Junior.
Arby Lipman said he paid around $400 for a lower level seat. "It's the Florida-Tennessee game. It's the time we have a chance to beat them, My father is a diehard Gator fan. I'm looking forward to talking a little smack," he said.
One fan commented on the 6 News Facebook page, "I have two in the lower level. I would part with them for... I don't know say $500 each."
Tiq IQ, a ticket market intelligence website, says the average ticket price for the UT- Florida game is $147, as of Tuesday.
That same website said the most expensive college football ticket in 2011 was the LSU-Oregon game, where the average ticket price was $560.
The last time Florida played in Knoxville in 2010, 102,455 fans attended the game.
The all-time attendance record at Neyland Stadium was set in 2004 when the Vols played the Gators when 109,061 fans in attendance.
