Knox County man charged with trying to kidnap ex-girlfriend

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A West Knox County man was arrested Tuesday shortly after the sheriff's office says he tried kidnap his ex-girlfriend at her home.

Clarence Harvey Mock, III, 24, broke into the woman's home on Confederacy Circle through the back door. The sheriff's office said he bound her legs and arms with duct tape and tried to carry her out the front door.

Witnesses tried to force their way in through the back door, which Mock had blocked with a chair.

Mock took the tape off his ex-girlfriend, went out the front door and fled in his vehicle.

Officers arrested him soon after the incident at his home on Westmere Drive.

Mock is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated kidnapping and simple assault. He was booked on bonds that total $151,000.

The sheriff's office said Mock has a criminal history in Knoxville including driving under the influence and theft.
