OAK RIDGE (WATE) - B&W Y-12, the managing contractor for the Y-12 nuclear weapons plant, issued a response Wednesday to the National Nuclear Security Administration's show cause order.
B&W laid out its case for why the NNSA should continue its contract and says the response is not publicly available because of security concerns.
In a release, the contractor touted corrective measures including staff changes, retraining the security force and security system testing to reduce false alarms.
The release also includes a statement from President and General Manager Chuck Spencer, saying, "We will continue our path forward for improvements, and will embed and make them long lasting at Y-12."
The show cause order was issued in August after protestors breached security at the plant in July.
