LOUDON (WATE) - Law enforcement agencies from Georgia to East Tennessee are searching for a missing woman.

Carolyn Clayton, 47, of Ringgold, Georgia is originally from Loudon County. She's been missing since Thursday, September 6.

Officials believe Clayton may have been on her way to visit family in Loudon when she disappeared.

The sheriff's office in Catoosa County, Georgia has asked the Loudon County Sheriff's Office to help spread the word on Clayton's disappearance.

According to Loudon County Sheriff Tim Guider, Catoosa officials say Clayton and her husband had a disagreement before she disappeared over whether to continue home schooling their children.

"Her family came first and I can't imagine what happened," said Clayton's father, Carroll Tuck. He lives in Loudon County. "She's not the kind of person who would run off and not call me."

Tuck says he's sick with worry. Last Thursday, he got a call from his son-in-law, Marvin Clayton, saying Carolyn was headed up for a visit.

"I talked to her the 5th, the day before, and we didn't talk about anything serious, just dad and daughter stuff," Tuck said.

He says his daughter never mentioned anything about a visit. Now he thinks something bad might have happened. "Something could have happened on the interstate on the way up," he said.

But Sheriff Guider says after a week, it's strange no vehicle has been found. "After seven days, time is not on your side," he added.

The sheriff says Catoosa County deputies are continuing to interview people in regards to the disappearance, including Carolyn's husband.

"He wanted (the children) to go to public school. They were in a disagreement over that, and he took them to school and when he got back, she was gone," Sheriff Guider said about the morning of Carolyn's disappearance.

Her family is using social media to reach out to friends and family, hoping someone has seen the mother of three.

"She's just a sweet person, a devoted mother," her Dad said. "She took care and home schooled those kids and she's just a perfect mom. Nothing like this has ever happened or anything. It's just unusual. I can't believe it's happening."

According to the incident report from the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office, Clayton was last seen at 9:00 by her husband.

He told investigators she hasn't used her cell phone, credit cards or bank account. He told police around $210 was missing of his children's money that he believes she took.

Investigators say she could be driving a 1998 silver Mercedes Benz E320.
