Woman threatens to blow up Newport pharmacy during robbery

NEWPORT (WATE) - A woman threatened to blow up a Newport pharmacy Friday morning during a robbery.

She robbed Town and Country Drugs at 771 Cosby Highway just before noon, according to police Chief Maurice Shults.

The robber gave a clerk a note saying to give her all the OxyContin or she would blow up the place.

The pharmacist gave the robber some pills, and she left without showing a weapon.

Investigators are checking surveillance video and following leads.
