GATLINBURG (WATE) - A Michigan woman died Friday afternoon from her injuries in a one-vehicle trolley bus accident that occurred on Labor Day in Gatlinburg.
Phillip L. Bowman, 48, of Sevierville, was driving a 2004 City of Gatlinburg trolley westbound on Highway 2435.
Bowman was negotiating a right hand curve when he pulled off to the right side of the road to avoid oncoming traffic.
The weight of the trolley collapsed the ground beneath it. The vehicle then overturned and threw Eunice M. Spencer, 66, of Fowlerville, Mich., from her seat. Spencer died from her injuries Friday.
A second passenger in the trolley, Roxanne K. Dean, 61, of Brown City, Mich., was injured in the accident.
