KNOXVILLE (WATE) - One teen died Sunday evening and another teen was injured when their car hit a pole in West Knox County.

The wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. on Ebenezer Road at Westland Drive.

The driver, Chandler Mackey, 19, of Dawn Trail in Knoxville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, Stephen Brown, 15, of Crimson Tree Lane, was airlifted to UT Medical Center.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said Mackey lost control of a 2005 Volvo and hit a utility pole.

Several emergency crews were called to the scene.

Officers said Mackey was not wearing a seatbelt, but Brown was. They also say speeding was a factor.

There was no indication of alcohol at the scene.
