Knoxville woman dies after fall from pickup truck

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville woman died Tuesday after she fell from a moving pickup truck early Monday morning. Police say alcohol may have been involved.

The victim, Angela Chatmon, 49, was riding in a pickup truck on Interstate 640 near Gap Road when she fell out on the passenger side at 3:23 a.m.

Two men who were also in the truck stopped, picked up Chatmon and took her to UT Medical Center.

Chatmon had critical injuries and passed away Tuesday at the hospital.

On Monday, UT Medical Center incorrectly reported that Chatmon was discharged.

Hospital spokeswoman Susan Wyatt says Chatmon checked into the hospital at the same time last year, and Wyatt accidentally read from that information. Wyatt apologized for the mistake.
