KINGSTON (WATE) - The FBI has joined the search for a three-year-old boy they believe was taken from Roane County by his non-custodial mother.

Authorities say there's a possibility Amy Barber-McDonough, 23, took her son, Frank Williams Qualls, out of state. However, there's still a chance they're in the Knoxville or LaFollete area.

The boy was last seen on August 31.

Frank is three feet tall and weighs around 33 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Barber-McDonough is 5'5" and weighs around 140 pounds with black hair and green eyes.

The pair may be traveling in a 1997 Toyota Camry with Tennessee license plate D6604S.

The Roane County Sheriff's Office originally said the car had an orange and black checkerboard design painted on it, but they feel it may have been changed now.

If you have any information about the pair, call the local FBI hotline 865-544-0751 or the sheriff's office at 865-717-4217.
