SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - Authorities say a Sevierville police officer's toddler son died Thursday morning after a dresser fell over on him.
Sevier County sheriff's officers and emergency medical responders went to 2340 Twin Hollow Way at 9:12 a.m. after a 911 call.
Twenty-month-old Lincoln David Akers was taken to LeConte Medical Center and pronounced dead after resuscitation attempts.
Detectives found that the boy climbed on the dresser, causing it to tip over and trap him.
The boy's father, Officer Adam Akers, was home when the accident happened. He tried to resuscitate his son until medical personnel arrived.
The Sevier County Medical Examiner's Office ruled this was an accidental death.
The Akers have three other children, including Lincoln's twin brother.
The Sevierville Police Department set up a memorial fund for the family at Mountain National Bank in Sevierville. Money
