Report expected soon in school bus wreck

JOHNSON CITY (AP) - Investigators are continuing to search for the reason a school bus ran off a road in East Tennessee and rolled three times injuring 26 students and the driver.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Diane Mays told the Johnson City Press on Friday that a preliminary crash report is expected to be available in about a week.

Investigators combed the site Friday looking for more clues. They said the bus was carrying a total of 42 students from David Crockett High School when it crashed Thursday, contrary to early reports that 63 students were aboard.

Hospital officials said nine of the students remained hospitalized late Friday.

Mays said the investigation would include examining evidence at the scene and comparing it to statements from the driver and students.
