KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The 33rd annual Greekfest takes place in Knoxville the weekend of Friday-Sunday September 28-30.
The festival is at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Kingston Pike. Friday and Saturday it's from 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Sunday is from noon to 6:00 p.m.
It includes authentic Greek food, live music and traditional Greek dancing.
An a la carte menu is available throughout the festival with such traditional favorites as roast lamb plate, gyro, souvlaki, pastichio, spanakopita, Greek salad and Greek pizza.
The marketplace includes fine and imported costume jewelry, imported gifts, cultural art, a bookstore, an authentic taverna, Greek wines, coffee, frappes and the popular Greek pastry sale.
Festival goers can also take tours of the church and the Byzantine iconography.
Admission is $2.00 for adults and children 12-under are free. You can also buy a weekend pass for $3.00.
