KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knox County Schools officials held the first in a series of meetings Monday in preparation for a new elementary school.

The new Southwest Elementary School is under construction in the Northshore Town Center.

The school is slated to open in the fall of next year, which will likely require boundary changes.

Students attending A. L. Lotts, Farragut Primary and Intermediate, Hardin Valley, Blue Grass, Ball Camp and Cedar Bluff Elementary schools may be affected by the changes.

More meetings are scheduled:

  • Tuesday, October 2 at Farragut Intermediate
  • Tuesday, October 9 at Cedar Bluff Elementary
  • Thursday, October 11 at Westlake Campus of First Baptist Concord
