KNOXVILLE (WATE) - South Knoxville has a new river access point.

Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Legacy Parks Foundation on Wednesday opened the access point at 5599 Island River Drive.

The event also marked the unveiling of the city's first blueway directional sign.

After the opening, a group of paddlers including Mayor Rogero made a short kayak trip on the river.
