Sears store closing in Morristown, at least 60 employees affected

MORRISTOWN (WATE) - The Sears store at College Square Mall in Morristown is closing sometime in mid-January 2013.

Around 60-70 employees are affected, including the auto services shop, according to Kimberly Freely, spokeswoman for Sears Holdings Corp.

Liquidation of the store begins on October 19.

Freely said employees will be notified of other open positions at area Sears and K-Mart stores, but they will have to apply for those.

She also said those who qualify will receive severance, and state employee assistance programs will be offered.

The lease for the Morristown store is not being renewed, but Freely said she couldn't comment on the reason.
