KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Actor Kevin James has canceled his plans to visit Knoxville for a charity event.

James was scheduled to appear at the Regal Pinnacle movie theater Monday night to screen his upcoming movie "Here Comes the Boom."

The actor canceled his plans Monday afternoon, saying he was stuck in Atlanta because of the weather.

Organizers said the event will continue without James.

"Here Comes the Boom" is about a teacher's effort to save a high school music program.

A limited number of tickets were sold for $50 each for the red carpet event.

Organizers said they would honor any requests for a refund because of the actor's announcement.

Proceeds from the night will go to Variety Children's Charity of Eastern Tennessee.
