Man stuck in ventilation duct during apparent burglary attempt

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man was found stuck in the ventilation duct of a North Knoxville apartment building early Tuesday.

Police say the man was attempting to gain access into a locked tool storage room in the Mountain Springs Apartments, 5004 Willoway Dr., when he became wedged in the confined space. He will likely be charged with attempted burglary.

Officers were investigating a report of a suspicious man around the apartment complex when they discovered the stuck man in a laundry room.

Officer Eric P'Simer found the man's legs dangling from a vent about six feet from the floor.

As Officer P'Simer grabbed the man's pant legs and tried to free him, the man slipped out of his pants and fell into the storage area. The man then attempted to flee the building, but was quickly caught by officers.

The man was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Police are attempting to confirm his identity before they file charges.
