KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Defense attorneys in the Christian-Newsom murder case have until Monday to respond to prosecutors' efforts to have the judge removed from the case.
Judge Jon Kerry Blackwood has refused to recuse himself.
The state's attorney general has filed an appeal, pointing to incidents in which the judge changed his mind about being able to act as the 13th juror and Blackwood's emotional response to ex-judge Richard Baumgartner's TBI file.
The case is on hold while the court considers the recusal appeal.
